The Phantoms

The dark grew strong
and the phantoms were busy
brewing up something wicked
to sprinkle the spells upon the roads
so that these men's eyes
would be shut so tightly
that the lights may not enter
though that their eyelids be opened
that their feet be shackled to the walls
though that their foot would be walking.

As the phantoms grew
from strength to strength
and that their numbers
had multiplied from evens to odds
unhesitatingly they had manifold
in all types of color, shape and form.

What lies ahead for mankind
and of their chances for survival?

Or would their destiny and fate
be predetermined by presets
as being dispensed upon them
by these spectral holocaust?

With sunlight just around the bend
a group of wise and gallant men
had formed a coalition of truth
for the sake of their children
and their children's children
for they had soon better
to cast out once and forever
these menacing phantoms

'Cure their befallen blindness
so that they may be able
to see bright daylight
and come to light
Once again.'

'Free these innocuous blind men
so that they may embark upon
the true meaning of independence
and return to their homeland
Once more.'

'Liberate all these routed lands
so that mankind may live
and continue to relive
the joy and comfort
of everlasting peace
Once and forever'
